Modern electricity grids still rely on SF₆, the most potent greenhouse gas known, to insulate medium-voltage switchgear. Despite its catastrophic climate impact, SF₆ has remained entrenched for decades due to a lack of viable alternatives that meet reliability, safety, and performance standards.
That status quo is no longer acceptable. Regulatory pressure is rising, utilities are under decarbonization mandates, and grid expansion is accelerating to support electrification. Yet replacing SF₆ requires more than compliance, it demands industrial-grade technology that utilities trust.
Nuventura was founded to deliver exactly that.

We invested in Nuventura because it brings radical innovation to one of the most conservative corners of the energy system. Its SF₆-free gas-insulated switchgear replaces SF₆ with dry air. This eliminates emissions without compromising performance, footprint, or reliability.
Shortly after we signed our term sheet, the European SF₆ ban for medium-voltage switchgear below 24 kV was formally announced, effective from 2026. This regulatory shift validated both the timing and the scale of the opportunity.
Nuventura fits squarely within our Climate Tech and industrial hardware focus: deep engineering, certified infrastructure products, and a clear path to market pull. Beyond capital, we support the team in scaling manufacturing, navigating utility procurement cycles, and accelerating commercialization in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
