Background

John is all finance. Over his career he has held senior roles including CFO of Kempen & Co, Geveke, Rodamco Europe, and SVP Finance at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, followed by leadership roles in private equity at AAC Capital and finance roles in high-growth and healthcare companies.

Beyond executive roles, he has served as a supervisory board and committee member for multiple organizations, from institutional investors to charities and public entities. This blend of corporate, private equity, and non-profit experience gives him a broad perspective on risk, governance, and impact.

I gravitate to people who are enthusiastic, ambitious, and constructive. People who see opportunities inside problems, no victims of circumstance. I value teams that stay open to outside input and use feedback to sharpen their decisions, controls, and capital allocation.

Focus & Thesis

Finance as an enabler of value.

John has no clear sector bias beyond one core principle: companies should create real value in the world. His focus is on building robust financial and governance structures that allow value to grow and be credibly measured.

CFO in a commercially oriented VC team.

For John, being part of Europe’s most commercially oriented industrial tech VC means being customer-friendly and supportive at every layer: LPs, founders, and internal teams. He ensures that everything around investments; from risk management to reporting and compliance, is optimally organized.

Integrity and transparent communication build trust. Strong analysis brings solutions, especially in complex situations. That’s where I like to operate.
