QuantWare Announces VIO-40K™: The World’s First 10,000-Qubit Quantum Processor

A scaling breakthrough that resets the trajectory of quantum computing

QuantWare has announced VIO-40K™, a new generation of its VIOTM 3D scaling architecture enabling 10,000-qubit Quantum Processors, the first time the industry has crossed the KiloQubit threshold. VIO-40K is 100× larger than any QPU available today, yet occupies a smaller footprint than current 100-qubit devices. It is a decisive break from the scaling stagnation that has limited quantum computing for nearly a decade.

Breaking a decade-long plateau

Quantum hardware has been stuck around ~100 qubits for years. Google moved from 53 to 105 qubits across six years; IBM recently unveiled a 120-qubit processor that is expected to lead the market in 2028. The bottleneck wasn’t demand, it was hardware scalability. Most systems rely on networking many small QPUs, producing high total cost of ownership and low fidelity.

VIO-40K uses a 3D chiplet-based architecture with 40,000 I/O lines and ultra-high-fidelity chip-to-chip connections. The result: exponentially more compute per dollar and per watt, without the architectural compromises of multi-QPU networking.

A quantum scaling standard for the entire industry

VIO is openly available to any organization using superconducting qubits. It turns every qubit design into a scalable platform, enabling QPU sizes previously considered out of reach.

QuantWare continues to expand the Quantum Open Architecture (QOA) ecosystem, with NVIDIA NVQLink now fully compatible. NVQLink integrates VIO-powered hyper-scaled quantum processors with classical AI supercomputing via the CUDA-Q platform, linking two performance frontiers into a single workflow.

Industrial-scale manufacturing

To meet demand for VIO-powered megaqubit processors, QuantWare is building Kilofab, the world’s first dedicated fab for QOA devices. Opening in 2026 in Delft, Kilofab will expand production capacity by 20×, reinforcing QuantWare’s status as the highest-volume QPU supplier globally.

We backed QuantWare early during pre-seed, via a CLA. This was when the “Intel of quantum computing” was a conviction, not a headline. The team in Delft was small but relentless, engineering manufacturable qubit hardware while the rest of the industry stayed in lab-scale mode. We invested again and again, including in the oversubscribed $27M Series A, pairing capital with the deep hardware discipline required to industrialize superconducting QPUs.
